Coaches - CertificationCoaches Certification Rules The deadline for certification each season will be December 31st after which all certification requirements must have been completed. A coach will only be required to attend a maximum of one (1) certification clinic in any one (1) season. All Coaches, including assistants, at the Atom 'AAA', 'AA', 'A' and 'B', Peewee 'AAA', 'AA', 'A' and 'B', Bantam 'AAA', 'AA', 'A' and 'B', Midget 'AAA' Major, 'AAA' Minor, 'AA', 'A' and 'B', and Junior 'A', 'B' and 'C' divisions within HNS must be certified at the N.C.C.P. Development Stream A level Clinic; All instructors at Initiation division are to be certified in the Initiation Program; All coaches at the Novice division are to be certified in the Initiation Program; It is recommended that coaches at the House/Recreational level be certified N.C.C.P. Development Stream A level Clinic; All bench officials/coaches, including assistants and trainers at the "AAA", "AA", and "A" divisions at all levels must be certified in the Hockey Canada Safety Program. All teams at the "B" and Recreational divisions must have at least one member of the bench staff certified in the Hockey Canada Safety Program. Bench staff includes Head Coach, Assistant Coaches and Trainer. It is recommended that all teams have at least one member of the bench staff seek certification at the HCSP Level II. HCSP Level II is available to individuals who hold current certification in First Aid and CPR from a recognized agency. HCSP Level II is provided once an individual provides proof of certification. There is no training clinic for this certification. All Minor Hockey Associations shall appoint a Development Coordinator by October All Rep team coaches must be certified at the NCCP Development Stream A Level Clinic, and have Speak Out and Safety Courses. Coaches must be 16 years of age by Dec, 2004. More details of these changes will be available ata later date. Any questions regarding clinics and certifications should be directed to 1st VP Kim Gray Any on ice helper, coach, or manager, must be submitted and approved prior to being registered with the association. Insurance fees will be paid for each individual that is on the ice or bench. Forms will be distributed and must be returned by October 17th to the registrar.
